Innovation Designer: What is it?
I have always had a hard time putting a label on what I do and what I can contribute with.
When I stumbled on the concept of innovation designer I think it made sense as a way of explaining my work.
As an innovation designer, I love working with transforming ideas into groundbreaking products.
My work spans across design, user experience (UX), user interface (UI), strategy, branding, and marketing to deliver comprehensive solutions that resonate with users and stand out in the market.
But what exactly does an innovation designer do?
What is an Innovation Designer?
An innovation designer is a professional who blends creativity, design thinking, and strategic insight to create innovative solutions.
This role involves not just designing aesthetically pleasing products, but also ensuring they are functional, user-friendly, and strategically aligned with market needs.
It’s about looking at the bigger picture and orchestrating every aspect of a product’s lifecycle, from concept to market launch.
Skills or at least experience can include pitching, strategy, design research, service design, product development, visual design, writing, facilitation, team development, business design and systemic design.
I don’t claim I’m an expert in all the above but I have experience in most of the things and can combine them into a powerful offering together with my design and product skills.
The blueprint of innovation
Design is at the heart of innovation.
It’s the blueprint that guides the creation of products that are not only beautiful but also practical and impactful.
Effective design ensures that a product is not only visually appealing but also functional, meeting the needs and expectations of users.
UX and UI: Innovating the user experience
User experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design are critical in creating products that users love.
UX focuses on the overall feel of the product, ensuring it is intuitive and enjoyable to use, while UI deals with the specific design elements that users interact with.
By prioritizing UX/UI design, we can create products that are not only effective but also delightful to use, driving user engagement and satisfaction.
